Why should I have a flu vaccine?

The annual flu vaccination is the most cost effective way of helping prevent sickness within your company during the winter months. Over the years it has been proved that the flu vaccination is 80% effective in helping to prevent flu in the workplace and in terms of cost it pails into insignificance against the cost of an employee being absent from work, even for a day.

Flu vaccinations are the most cost effective method of protecting your staff and business from the annual on-set of flu.

In December 2008 a large proportion of the country was affected by a flu outbreak and this caused major problems for businesses who found themselves unable to cope with the workload and deal with their customers due to staff shortages.
The outbreak of swine flu in 2009 also had an impact although not as bad as had originally been anticipated. The 2010 vaccine as recommended by the WHO will contain a strain to combat swine flu.

Please see http://www.who.int/csr/disease/influenza/201002_Recommendation.pdf for further details

On 1st July 2010 Dame Deirdre Hine, a former chief medical officer for Wales commenting on the 2009 swine flu outbreak said, "It is important that the experience of 2009 does not lead to complacency and the threat of a flu pandemic remains and the next one could be very serious"

Don’t let it happen to you in 2010.
